Hello My Dear Phase 5 Biology Students!! 1.Click here to go to ON-LINE TEXTBOOK LOGIN and click here for BIOLOGY: GENERAL CLASS INFORMATION Please check here for information just for you, especially check the homework page!!!!!! 2. A My Biology Account Worksheet (MBA) is a summary of all the important terms and ideas in a chapter/unit. They will be available to the students at the beginning of each chapter/unit in hard copy and electronically. They are not meant to be completed in one night, but rather, completed as we work through the material. Once completed they will be a major resource for your test preparation. Take care to save completed MBA's for exam preparation as well. Remember to staple the MBA to your work as a cover sheet and to NUMBER YOUR VOCABULARY WORDS! 2. Have your assignments printed out the day they are due before you come to class. Staple the papers and have your name on the front page. 3. Always practice good chartology and graphology: title each chart and graph you make. For charts, always include gridlines, units in the column heading, and make the column heading bold. The most effective charts are easy to read and do not contain extraneous information in each cell. When making a graph remember to label both axes. The scatter plot is most often used when making a graph on the computer. Occasionally, a bar graph is most appropriate but most often we will use a line graph to display small group and class data. 4. When we start the second semester: Do not discard your First semester biology materials. You should save them to a disk or on the server. You will need them if you take any life science courses at NDP in your junior or senior year or at college. 5. In order to add gridlines to a table/chart you must tell the Excel program to do so. Go to file, page setup, sheet, and click the gridline box. 6. When putting papers in your data books: Tape Straight and TAPE GOOD; STAPLES BAD. Check out HOW TO WRITE A LAB REPORT for additional information. 7. Remember to THINK during class.
